The President- elect along with Vice President- elect Kamala D. Harris introduced Antony Blinken for Secretary of State, Alejandro Mayorkas for Secretary of Homeland Security, Avril Haines for Director of National Intelligence, Linda Thomas-Greenfield for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Jake Sullivan as National Security Adviser, and John Kerry as Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.

اعتبر وزير الخارجية الأميركي أنتوني بلينكن، يوم الجمعة، أن الأمر يرجع لحركة “حماس” في الموافقة على وقف لإطلاق نار يسمح بدخول مزيد من المساعدات الإنسانية إلى غزة، وبإجراء محادثات حول “حل دائم” للصراع.
وقال بلينكن قبل اجتماعه مع وزير الخارجية التركي هاكان فيدان: “الكرة في ملعبهم. نحن نعمل بكثافة على ذلك وسنرى ماذا سيفعلون”.
وأضاف المسؤول الأميركي: “في هذه اللحظة نركز أيضا بشكل مكثف على معرفة ما إذا كان بإمكاننا التوصل إلى وقف لإطلاق النار”.
وفي خطابه السنوي حول “حال الاتحاد، قال الرئيس الأميركي جو بايدن إنه يواصل العمل “من دون توقف” من أجل التوصل إلى وقف فوري لإطلاق النار في قطاع غزة، قد يستمر 6 أسابيع.
