The USS Nimitz aircraft carrier and strike group have arrived in the Gulf 08 May 2007 to provide air support to ground troops operating in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US Navy said in a statement. أفاد مسؤول أميركي لصحيفة “وول ستريت جورنال”، بأن التحضير قد بدأ لإرسال حاملة طائرات ثانية استعدادًا لاحتمال حرب ضد إيران.
في حين ذكرت الصحيفة أن الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب لم يقرر بعد إرسال حاملة الطائرات الثانية إلى الشرق الأوسط، والقرار قد يصدر خلال ساعات.
